Q: Do we need to book activities and how far in advance?
A: All of our activities run in set sessions and we would advise you to pre-book so you are not disappointed, particularly if you can only come on a certain day or time. The speed in which our sessions fill up is very much dependant on the time of year.  For more activity information please click here.

Q: Where can I go for a walk?
A: We have 3 fantastic self-guided walks on Rothiemurchus and these come with the Explorer card which enables you to help care for Rothiemurchus for future generations to enjoy. You can become an Explorer for a week and the money you spend purchasing your Explorer card allows us to continue caring for this unique environment. Your Explorer card will also entitle you to some fantastic discounts and benefits. For more information please click here

Q: Where can I camp?
A: We have a superb camping and caravanning site situated at the heart of Rothiemurchus, which is a mere 10-minute stroll from the Rothiemurchus Centre. Set in stunning scenery and with fantastic facilities it's the perfect place for a holiday with your touring caravan, motor home or tent. Please click here for more information

Q: Where can I see Highland Cattle?
A: Throughout the year our Rangers run a Hairy Coo Safari this gives you the opportunity to meet our cattle and learn more about the traditional breed. To book please contact our team on 01479 812345 or book online here. If you are unable to come on one of these sessions please speak to one of our team who will be more than happy to point you in the right direction of some Hairy Coo's.

Q: What time do you open?
A: The Rothiemurchus Centre opens at 9.30am and closes at 5.30pm daily (times vary over Christmas) and can be contacted on 01479 812345 to find us click here

Q: Where can I see Ospreys?
A: We regularly have Ospreys visiting the Rothiemurchus Fishery from March through to August. The Fishery is open 9.30am - 5pm and it stays open until 9pm in July and August. We have a spacious hide that is well positioned with a 360 view of the Fishery and approaching landscape to allow Osprey and wildlife viewing opportunities. You can gain access to the hide through the Fishery for a charge of £5 per person per day. You may also wish to take part in one of early morning Osprey photography sessions and for more information or to book please click here

Q: How can I locate a geocache on Rothiemurchus?
A: Geocaching is certainly an ever growing popular activity! We support activities that encourage people to enjoy Rothiemurchus responsibly; however, we also have to find suitable locations given the international environmental importance of 90% of the land. Our 70km path network has been developed to enable people to enjoy the forest without disturbing sensitive habitats. This in turn allows rare and endangered wildlife to thrive and for people and nature to live in harmony. If you would like to locate a geocache on Rothiemurchus please get in contact and provide information on the location of your proposed geocache. We hope that you will work with us to ensure that this precious natural resource is cared for enabling future generations of wildlife to prosper and humans to enjoy!
